'Non Proprio Costanza' standing light with reused parts

from €200.00
Only 10 available

Made with parts of the iconic ‘Costanza’ light by Luceplan (later Phillips).

The Costanza was a bestseller throughout the 90ies and early 2000s and has been produced in staggering numbers. It is notorious for being very fragile and hard to repair, and therefor mostly shunned by traders in second hand furniture. The most frequently sold model had a dimming module operated by touch is particularly worthless as can only be used with incandescent bulbs. Spare parts and kits to change the lamp are available, but they are much more expensive than the second hand value of the lamp.

For these reasons, Constanza lights can be bought relatively cheaply, and we decided to do a little redesign project with them. Our take is named ‘Non Proprio Costanza’, that translates as ‘not really Costanza’ or ‘not really steady’. By using a double layer of densely perforated steel as a shade, an optical effect is created that seems to make the top of the light unstable and ever changing.

Dimensions:

Height: adaptable between 115 and 150cm (large) or between 60cm and 115cm (medium)
Width: 25cm
Fitting: E14 maximum 20 watt (LED) (4 watt bulb included) . Comes with a foot switch.
Condition: made with reused parts. The base plate and the spine show signs of wear, such as scratches. Corporate stickers have been removed, the area they covered might be smoother or lighter in colour, this should not be seen as a defect. While in theory the lights can be extended to 1,5 meter, we advise lower heights for improved stability (this is no different than with the original light).

These lights are currently in production in our workshop. Orders will be shipped from december 11th onwards.
